Vortex Mixer vs Centrifuge

2.1

Vortex Mixer

Vortex mixers are a type of laboratory equipment used for rapid mixing of samples. This type of mixer has a small footprint and a high speed. Vortex mixers mainly mix samples/reagents, but they can also be used to suspend cells.

Vortex mixers are mainly used to mix samples in tubes, plates and flasks by creating vortex currents in the sample. Vortex mixers are equipped with different accessories that make it possible to mix different sample sizes or multiple samples at once.

2.2

Centrifuge

Centrifuges are mainly used to separate samples of different weights by spinning them at high speed and generating centrifugal force. Centrifuges are available in different sizes with different maximum speeds, rotors and different temperature options. Different rotors and adapters are available for centrifuging multiple samples and samples of different sizes.

How can I distinguish what difference between Vortex mixer and Centrifuge?

Vortex mixers can be used in all laboratories but are primarily used in microbiology, bioscience, biochemistry and analytical laboratory environments to help mix samples together prior to analysis or to suspend cells. Place the tube on top of the vortex mixer to mix liquids. This is the better choice when you wish to mix difficult liquids together or to help dissolve certain substances in a solution.

Centrifuges are mainly used to separate components of different sizes and these are mainly used in the biological field for centrifuging cells. Tubes are placed in a fixed position within the centrifuge to separate liquids. This is a better option if you want to separate samples of different sizes.
